Coach and influence leadership and employees to implement and support a healthy, safe, secure, and sustainable business.

Responsible for overall deployment of driveline HSE strategy, and management of health, safety, environmental, and risk systems.

HSE Culture

  • Deploy the Vision and Strategy for HSE and Risk Management for cluster in line with GKN Driveline and Group approach.
  • Support the creation and development of a world-class, safe, and environmentally responsible organization in line with best business practices and global benchmarking.
  • Cultivate a zero accident culture’. Ensure the effective implementation of the product and global Safety and Risk Management CI plan, including all functions and sites.
  • Create a network of specialists within product group / cluster to develop corrective action plans and support implementation.
  • Identify knowledge and skills gaps within the product group and develop plans to educate and train workforce. Includes defining HSE competencies required for other functions and arranging training to develop necessary HSE skills.
  • Ensure the effective application of appropriate Health, Safety and Risk methodology and tools across all Functions and business processes.
  • Act as environmental advocate to propose environmental and energy projects, improvements, and business direction as opportunities arise.
  • Provide coaching, and training in environmental sustainability field and pollution prevention tools to drive business improvements through employee involvement.
  • Develop and deploy environmental awareness campaigns.

  • Promote a culture of pollution prevention within the region. Embed a culture of environmental responsibility and stewardship amongst the product stream.
  • Integrated Management System

  • Foster strong working relationships amongst HSE professionals so that Lessons Learned, Best in Class, Near Misses, Injuries, and System Failures etc.
  • are systematically shared and actioned.

  • Support the development and implementation of an integrated Management System within sites that complies with legal, industry, global, and customer specific requirements and standards, including ISO / TS 16949 (IAFT16949), ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO50001 and other legal or customer specific requirements as appropriate.
  • Implement a robust internal and external audit and monitoring system across sites to ensure ongoing compliance to the Health, Safety, Environmental and Risk Management systems.
  • Support action plans and corrective actions following audits.

  • Support the development of Driveline HSE strategies in order to minimize the impact of global environmental legal requirements in the business.
  • Support the development of innovative solutions to improve product environmental and energy management systems information flow and performance.
  • Identify opportunities to implement common processes and best-in-class environmental and energy management practices from across the businesses.

    Risk Prevention

  • Develop annual plant level Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) plan and monitor and report the status of agreed countermeasures and improvement plans
  • Align continuity plans, Risk Profiles, and Continuous Improvement plans to support plant and product group improvements and risk prevention.
  • Identify areas for improvement to systems and overall performance. Ensure that effective continuous improvement programs are initiated and implemented in each location.
  • Concern Monitoring and Resolution

  • Monitor and report Health, Safety and Risk performance and trends to cluster, product group and Divisional Leadership as appropriate
  • Support the resolution of major HSE and risk concerns, escalating as per GKN standards and procedures. Includes providing guidance to serious accident investigation.
  • Liaise with other Health, Safety and Risk Managers (including cross divisional) to support hazard or accident resolution on common problems, and facilitate the sharing of lessons learned to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Built-In Safety

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Driveline HSE to develop and implement common process and equipment design standards to ensure built-in safety as a preventive technique from original design.
  • Health & Safety Function

  • Support the HSE function in the on-going development and improvement of GKN Group and division HSE / Risk Management System and related tools.
  • Coach plant HSE teams to utilize appropriate lean tools to continually improve the performance of HSE business processes.
  • Support development, communicate, and deploy HSE procedures, Ways of Working, standard operations, and systems in order to achieve HSE objectives and goals.
